"I'm interested in practicing meditation, where do I start?"


More and more frequently people approach me with this question.

Interestingly enough, asking it back in 2011 was what launched me into my Pranic Healing journey. I was then introduced to the Meditation on Twin Hearts, a simple but powerful technique I still practice on a daily basis as it continues to enhance my life. This is the technique I'll be sharing with you in this post.

The Meditation on Twin Hearts, given to us by Master Choa Kok Sui, is a precious teaching. But no matter how many words I use in an attempt to convince you of that, you will only truly know after experiencing the benefits for yourself. It's one thing to understand a subject intellectually. It's a much deeper thing to understand it from personal experience.

In a nutshell, the technique consists in forming the intention of projecting energies of peace from your hands to the planet Earth for a few minutes, and then relaxing the hands on your lap while mentally chanting a mantra and focusing on a point of light on the top of your head. It may sound complicated at first, but it can be easily done by simply following a guided recording. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.

I confess that I did not fall in love with it right away. My preconceived idea about meditations back then was that they had to be long, silent, tedious. It was difficult for me to believe that this short, guided technique could be so effective. Only after I took on my friend's challenge to practice daily did I start to understand and appreciate it.

So here I will focus on the how, not the whys. You can refer to previous posts if you want to know more about the beginning of my spiritual journey or some of my thoughts on meditation in general.

A disclaimer before we start

As much as the Meditation on Twin Hearts is safe for most, it is generally not recommended for people under 18, people with heart conditions, pregnant women, heavy meat eaters or people who make use of drugs. Please, make sure to check the book recommendations at the bottom of this page in order to have a proper understanding of the technique and its restrictions. Also, make sure to observe how your body reacts to the practice in order to avoid potential problems.

The 'One Finger Illumination Technique'

What made it really easy for me to begin was that the practice is short and guided, with Master Choa Kok Sui himself leading through all the steps. Having someone to guide you makes it virtually effortless. As Master Stephen Co likes to say, it's the "one finger illumination technique: just press play!"

There are plenty of books explaining the whole process. Serious students should definitely consider reading them to increase their understanding of the technique, thereby enhancing their experience. But here I'll not bore you with the details. Let's go straight to the recording so you can start meditating right away!

My personal challenge to you

Guess what! With meditation, just like with many other things in life such as "going to the gym" or "learning to play a musical instrument", it takes regular practice for one to truly harness the benefits. The good news is that with the Meditation on Twin Hearts it usually takes just a few weeks for most people to start to notice changes.

So now I pass on to you the same challenge I was once given which changed my life:

Be open to practice daily for at least one or two months so you can understand how powerful this particular technique is!
